Jenni Rivera is only here because she is DEAD. Without the end of her life NO ONE would have even heard of her, and she would have died in obscurity.

Trying to figure out for the life of me why the death of this Jenni Rivera person, who I've never even heard of, has gotten more press than John Lennon's death!!!

"has gotten more press than John Lennon's death!!!" Are you kidding me???? Or are you talking about more than the press John Lennon's death is getting today as we speak? Because I have only seen 2 references to the fact that the rivera girl died. When John Lennon died there was breaking news. It was reported by Every single station, and the whole country knew and mourned. It was reported on and followed up on for weeks, and was also covered in magazines yearly and decade roundups of important events that happened in (year and decade).

@Loganx It must be a California thing because that chicks death is on every newscast, and spanish language station. Before she dided I can guaranty you that NO ONE even had a clue as to who she was.....Other than her criminal parents.

Did they break into shows or games that were already running? Is it on the front page of every paper? Is it on the front page of time magazine (along with nearly Every other magazine)? I agree that no one (mostly) knew who she was before she died, but to say that it got more press than John Lennon's death...... An event that covered the world! I mean there were daily updates on Lennon. The updates and follow ups were mainly due to the fact it was a murder case, but it Definitely got more press. Heck Lennon's death got more press than the death of many Presidents. I still don't know anything about Rivera other than that she was a singer and that she died. Even if someone knew nothing about Lennon (though who didn't know who he was), by the end of that week they would have known everything about his life, and death because of the reporting. Heck his best friends probably learned stuff they never knew.

I don't know where you're living but Jenni Rivera was very well known before she died. She's huge in Mexico, central, and South America. Also in any Spanish speaking part of the USA. I'm not Hispanic and don't listen to Spanish music and I knew who she was before she died. Everyone I talk to knew who she was and it was all over Facebook. Just cause you don't know doesn't others dont
