Short version, someone made a request for Android app. Here’s
a link to apk file, which you can install on your Android phone, or any Android powered device (tested on himedia q10 pro). To install it, you’ll have to enable application install from unknown sources (non market sources). I tried to add the app to the Play Store, but it was refused. I guess they didn't like the preview photos, or the fact that I was honest and checked all NS4W check boxes. They were more than happy to take my $30 when I signed up for the store, though. You’ll also need to provide Nudography’s login credentials if you make it run on your phone (you don’t get any parsing errors).
Long version. This is an ongoing hobby project started a couple of years ago. I wanted to learn application development for Android and other mobile platforms and decided to make a client for this site. The app development is taking place in Xamarin, a programing platform which, in theory, enables simple development of mobile apps for Android, iOS and Windows phones.
Reality is much different than theory. Filled with obstacles with each step you take. I bought an iPhone for sole purpose to be able develop an app for iOS as well. Nope. You need to buy a mac computer as well just to test the app. Scratch that. The Windows app for the site got obsolete once Microsoft decided it will no longer make mobile phone, that was long before I managed to recover my Windows phone, which got forgotten in some hotel when I was on vacation abroad, so not much was lost there.
So, with iOS and Windows out of the way, I could focus on Andorid app. The plan was to be able to run the app on my LG P500 (came out in 2010), running Gingerbread 2.3 Android OS (latest version is Oreo, 8.0 I think). And until a few months ago I was able to run and debug it without any problems. But in one of the recent updates, Xamarin or Google decided to not support older versions of Android any more, so I more or less stopped coding altogether.
The version you can download above was tested on Android 4.2 and 7.1. I managed to install it, on both platforms. I managed to crash it on both platforms. Most often when downloading photos (you’ll find downloaded photos in Pictures folder), when I would get memory leak exception error. There are also problems when displaying recent updates, thumbnails appearing in rows where they shouldn’t. When testing on 7.1 I also noticed that when downloading photos, for some unknown reason, thumbnails would get downloaded as well.
As said, it’s a hobby project. I am not a programmer, I don’t follow the trends in app development. The speed of new technologies coming and going in this field is too much for me to track. Half of the stuff is deprecated or obsolete within a year. A month ago I started the latest course in .net. It took me two days just to write “Hello World” in .net Core and Angular 2. The project folder had some 20,000 files in it. Fuck this shit. And I am told Angular 5 is the thing now.
So, if you send feedback or request to add new features, fix bugs… I am done with this, too stressful for me. The only way I make version 2.0 is if this bitcoin address,
1G9WDreT1uwgMLnsjW2iwzeDLEErqZRyP8gets 20 coins in it and I hire professionals who know what they’re are doing, and don't mind being stressed out.
I have to include some celeb name here,
Emma Watson will do, otherwise the app crashes on start up when it checks for article thumbs but doesn't find any.
