If Hollywood can make 3D reboots of its movies, why not other filmmakers, even if we're speaking about erotic movies.
3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy is basically a 3D reboot of the
Sex and Zen franchise from the 90s, erotic movies which were loosely based on the novel The Carnal Prayer Mat by Li Yu, the Chinese erotic writer from the 17th century.
This remake was fairly popular in China and supposedly earned more on the opening day than Avatar.
I am not very familiar with the lead actresses and how popular they actually are. The cast mostly includes Japanese AV Idols, basically Asian glamour models who decide to go into porn business. The ones that I was able to identify are
