The movie is a biographical drama about Toma Zdravkovic, a Yugoslav and Serbian folk singer. He also starred in movie Balkan ekspres and on TV series Bolji život. The director of Toma, Dragan Bjelogrlic, had one of the leading roles on Bolji život, although I don't think they shared a scene on the series. According to Dragan, they met during a humanitarian concert.
Wikipedia says Toma was married four times. I noticed he dedicated songs to Liljana, Branka, Danka and Marjana, possibly some other woman as well since lots of songs titles contain word Ciganko (Gypsy woman). Finally, I also found a song titled
Nado Nado. I take it it’s dedicated to Nada, character portrayed by Milena Radulovic in the movie, who Toma also got married to.
