In the movie Keira portrays the titular character, a country girl named Colette, who is seduced by an older man, a well-known critic turned author who mostly employs ghostwriters to do his work. The couple gets married and moves to Paris, where in order to support their life style, the husband decides to also employ the wife’s writing talents and it turns out that she’s better at writing than he is.
