I kind of expected the movie to be just another 80s teen comedy, but it was quite the opposite. Comes the ending with “let’s subvert their expectations scene”, and I realize I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder induced by The Last Jedi. I hoped never to relive that nightmare again, but the ending of this movie somehow managed to bring back to the surface all the suppressed feelings and flashbacks I experienced while watching The Last Jedi.
A note to myself. If a movie title starts with “The Last”, it might subvert my expectations…, hmm, The Last Airbender… I might be on to something.
