If this were Decameron’s plague, we’d have the last story telling day, then two more days of no work and back to the old life as before the plague happened. But since this corona virus is no ordinary flu, it looks like I’ll be stuck with writing the rest of the ninety tales as well, if I am lucky.
I listen to the experts on the current virus outbreak situation saying that quarantining, self-distancing, self-isolation… will flatten the curve and limit the spread of the virus and things will slowly go back to normal.
I checked some streams from Wuhan, which was in total lockdown for more than two months. if
hairdressers in hazmat suits, temperature checking on every corner, wearing masks and gloves whenever outside, tracked by GPS all the time, taking voluntary two-weeks quarantine when traveling abroad, disinfecting every item you buy… is considered normal, then I don’t think I am particularly looking forward to the day the things will “go back to normal”.
