There are reports that
Mae Whitman, who made her acting debut in Independence Day as the president’s daughter and is also the voice of April O'Neil / Felicia on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, will replace the current leading actress, Gayle Rankin, in in the stage play "The Mystery of Love and Sex" by Bathsheba Doran. The play will be performed at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles from February 10 through March 20.

"I saw this play last year when it played in New York last year at Lincoln Center; Mae's role was played there by Gayle Rankin. Towards the end of the second act, the character, a college student, is hanging out a young man her age who has been her best friend since grade school; he's worried that he might be gay, and he's in denial about it. The young lady, to prove that he's not gay and to prove that she is desirable, strips COMPLETELY naked, walks toward him, and then turns and lies down on a bed, face up, and waits for him to ravage her. After a while, when he doesn't make a move on her, she gets up from the bed, turns her back toward the audience, sobs, covers herself with a sheet and walks off stage."
