Breathless is a remake of the 1960 titled A bout de soufflé, a French film which was written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard.
The original film is set in Paris, it’s about an American girl (
Jean Seberg) and a French criminal (Jean-Paul Belmondo) who get into a doomed romantic relationship.
In the remake the roles are slightly reversed. The movie is set in Los Angeles and, we follow a flamboyant guy (Richard Gere) who falls for a French girl (Kaprisky).
While the original has way higher imdb score, 8.0 vs. remake’s 5.7, it lacks original film score which stands out in the remake.
