Because Indonesia has very strict anti-pornography laws, you are advised not to film any sex romps, if you happen to be on vacation in that country.
Police named singer Nazril Ariel a prime suspect in breaching the anti-pornography law, after a couple of sex videos, featuring Ariel with a former and current girlfriend, started making rounds on the internet a couple of weeks ago. To stop the spreading of videos over the internet and mobile phones, police raided several high schools, so the offending clips could be removed and stopped any further sharing of the sexually explicit videos.
The videos in question were apparently on Ariel's laptop that was stolen earlier this year. They were supposedly filmed by Ariel and appear to show him having sex with on separate occasions with his current girlfriend, a model and a soap actress
Luna Maya, and his ex-girlfriend
Cut Tari, also a model and an actress and a TV presenter.
Although Maya and Tari were prominent television personalities, their careers took a nose dive after the videos were made public. Both have been dropped by their corporate sponsors.
Yesterday Ariel surrendered himself to the police for questioning and further investigation of the sex scandal.
Police initially threatened to charge all of the involved ones under a strict anti-pornography law.
The case will be the first major test of the anti-pornography law, passed in 2008, which defines pornography as all works and "bodily movements" deemed obscene or capable of violating public morality.
If found guilty of distributing the sex tape, the stars could face up to 12 years in jail. On top of that sentence, Tari, who is married, could also face up to nine months in prison for adultery.
