The movie is a horror comedy. The horror part of the movie is often compared to the slasher films like Scary Movie and the comedy to the type you’ll find in Super Troopers movies.
Fast forwarding through the movie I mostly got flashbacks of the lead actress,
Brittany Daniel, competing in some triathlon events. I had to look it up when those took place; some 15 years ago. Damn, time flies.
