I've been down with a flu for the past week, so watching movies is practically the only thing I can do for the time being. I doubt I would be able to sit through Sergio Leone's masterpiece otherwise. With slightly less than four hours in length, it was quite an achievement to sit, actually I was lying most of the time, through this gangster saga that spans over four decades, starting in the early 1920s and ending in 1968.
Robert DeNiro plays Noodles, a ghetto kid who rises to prominence in the world of organized crime and Elizabeth McGovern plays Deborah, the love of his life. Unfortunately, the scene where the couple finally gets together is rather disturbing, since it ends with Noodles raping Deborah.
We get to see Deborah naked, albeit just from behind, one more time earlier in the movie.
Jennifer Connelly, who played the young Deborah, strips out of her clothes when she's spied upon by Noodles. Although Jennifer actually filmed her nude scene, producers of the movie later decided to use a body double of legal age for her nude scene.
