A judge ruled on Thursday that she needs more information before weighing in on a motion by "US Weekly" magazine to dismiss a $20 million libel lawsuit filed against it by
Britney Spears.
Spears filed the $10 million lawsuit against US Weekly magazine over an article that asserted Spears and her husband Kevin Federline shot a sex tape of themselves.
The article, "Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004," claimed that Spears and Federline showed it to their lawyer and expressed fear that "...a member of their entourage has threatened to release raunchy footage of the two..."
Us Weekly magazine reported that a member of Spears's entourage reportedly copied one of the couple's personal video tapes -- allegedly recorded while Britney was still expecting baby son Sean Preston but before she "looked pregnant".
"He has threatened to release raunchy footage" to the highest bidder the magazine had stated.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that the article, which ran in the October 17, 2005 issue, is an "outrageous fabrication."
