Playboy has relaunched its main website with a number of new features in a bid to attract advertisers and act as more than just an extension of its famed glossy title.
The new
Playboy.com, which currently attracts 6m monthly visitors, features an array of original video, animation and interactive content with opportunities for user customization.
The free access, ad- funded website goes live today. Playboy rolled out a similar relaunch of Playboy.co.uk in February. Playboy's premium online offering, Playboy Cyber Club, will still charge members for access.
A new entertainment section offers news and reviews for movies and music with a strong focus on the video games industry, with a weekly video blog from 'gamer next door' Jo Garcia.
The website also hosts an original animated series, 'Play-Mation Nation', as well as regular magazine features, showcasing travel, nightlife, style, dining, interviews and girls.
John Lumpkin, divisional vice-president and associate publisher of Playboy Digital, said: "We are excited and confident that the newly enhanced Playboy.com will create a greater value proposition for advertisers, complement Playboy magazine and firmly position Playboy.com as the number one entertainment men's site."
